As part of our workplace health promotion programme, we offer our employees various opportunities to look after their physical and mental wellbeing amidst the stresses of everyday working life. In May, we introduced another initiative as part of ‘By employees, for employees’, we added another option to the mix: our Active Break.
Only 15 minutes, but with big impact. As part of a pilot project, we invited our colleagues over the past four weeks to take part in an active break every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m., right before lunchtime.
Together, we took a short break from sitting in front of the computer, attending meetings, writing reports and, in general, from the sedentary nature of everyday work. During those few minutes, we stretched our muscles and ligaments, swung and rotated our arms and legs, and gave our joints a bit more freedom of movement. And along the way, we shared some laughs and conversations about all sorts of things – except work.
A short break with a big impact: consciously switching off, giving your body and mind a rest, and proactively supporting your personal health. And as a little bonus, these sessions also boost team spirit through shared circling, bending, stretching and cracking your joints together.
Did that make lunch taste even better for some of our colleagues? We think so 😉

The feedback on this pilot project has been consistently positive. Just a few minutes of movement – even if it’s as simple as consciously blinking, tilting your head back or briefly shifting your gaze from the screen to the scenery outside – does the body and mind a world of good.
Therefore, our conclusion is: we’ll carry on with stretching, moving and cracking our joints!
We’re already looking forward to lots more active breaks from the daily grind with our colleagues, every Tuesday just before lunch 😉
